New Taxes Beginning in 2009

Feb. 2009: New Federal Tax of 60 cents per pack on cigarettes goes into effect on April 1st, 2009.



The latest data for cigarette sales indicate there were 400 billion cigatettes sold in 2001. At 60 cents per pack that generates $12 billion dollars in new tax revenue. At this rate the democrats might tax America out of the recession. How about a new tax on all alcoholic beverages? Oh! I forgot the liberal do-gooders still drink they just don't smoke, so no taxing alcohol!
