Happy Independence Day

On July 4, 1776 that was 233 years ago today. Fifty-six men, our founding fathers, signed the Declaration of Independence! By doing so they took the first step which set in motion our way of governing ourselves and ultimately the freedom we all enjoy and take for granted today. We all should take a moment and silently say to them "Thank You" and remember their sacrifices and not just the fireworks we'll see across our great nation tonight. May "GOD BLESS AMERICA" today and forever.

Here IS why we need national education reform!

The Goldwater Institute of Arizona recently conducted a test of 1,350 Arizona high-school students about their knowledge of civics. The results were dismal.

The 10-question test was based on the exam administered by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to prospective U.S. citizens.

Among the 1,134 Arizona public-school students responding, not a single one correctly answered more than seven correctly. With six correct answers needed for a passing grade, just 3.5% managed it.

You are reading that right. They logged a failure rate greater than 96 percent!

If that isn't discouraging enough for you, consider that almost 93 percent of the foreign-born applicants for citizenship who take the same test pass it the first time.

Here are the questions:
1. What is the supreme law of the land?
2. What do we call the first 10 amendments to the Constitution?
3. What are the two parts of the U.S. Congress?
4. How many Justices are one the Supreme Court?
5. Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?
6. What ocean is on the East Coast of the United States?
7. What are the two major political parties in the United States?
8. We elect a U.S. Senator for how many years?
9. Who was the first president of the United States?
10. Who is in charge of the executive branch?

Here are the answers.

Better wake up people or you soon won't have a Republic, the present leaders of this nation seem hell bent on turning it into a socialist country.
